គាយត្រី ជាមាតានៃវេទ; គាយត្រី ជាអ្នកបង្កើតពូជពង្សព្រាហ្មណ៍។ ព្រោះនាងការពារ អ្នកសូត្រ/អ្នកច្រៀង (គាតា) ដូច្នេះហើយ នាងត្រូវបានហៅថា ‘គាយត្រី’।
