Śiva (Īśvara)
Tirtha: Koṭitīrtha
Type: ghat
Listener: Addressed to ‘viprendra’ (foremost brāhmaṇa) within the story
Scene: A solemn moment of declaration: the deity/authority points to the waters and names them Koṭitīrtha; sages and devas witness the consecration.
A tīrtha’s sanctity is affirmed as a living conduit of purification, capable of annihilating accumulated pāpa through contact and devotion.
Koṭitīrtha, explicitly named as the sin-destroying sacred spot in Revā Khaṇḍa 182.
The verse primarily names and praises the tīrtha; ritual details (snāna, pūjā, tarpaṇa) appear in subsequent verses.
