द्वादशः सर्गः — Kaikeyi’s Boons and Dasaratha’s Moral Collapse
Ayodhya Kanda 12
परित्यजेयुः पितरो हि पुत्रान्भार्याः पतींश्चापि कृतानुरागाः।कृत्स्नं हि सर्वं कुपितं जगत्स्याद्दृष्ट्वैव रामं व्यसने निमग्नम्।।।।
parityajeyuḥ pitaro hi putrān bhāryāḥ patīṃś cāpi kṛtānurāgāḥ | kṛtsnaṃ hi sarvaṃ kupitaṃ jagat syād dṛṣṭvaiva rāmaṃ vyasane nimagnam ||
ពេលឃើញព្រះរាមជ្រួលចូលក្នុងវិបត្តិ ពិភពលោកទាំងមូលនឹងឆេះឡើងដោយកំហឹង; ឪពុកនឹងបោះបង់កូនប្រុស ហើយភរិយាដែលស្មោះស្រឡាញ់ក៏នឹងបោះបង់ស្វាមីរបស់ខ្លួនផងដែរ។
This entire world will be inflamed to see Rama plunged in adversity. Fathers will abandon their sons. Wives, attached to their husbands, will forsake them.
Dharma is social and public: when a righteous person is unjustly harmed, it destabilizes collective ethics and loyalty, provoking moral outrage and disorder.
Daśaratha predicts sweeping social upheaval if Rama is forced into misfortune.
Rama’s moral authority: his suffering is portrayed as intolerable to society because he embodies righteousness.
