etatpavitramāyuṣyaṃ sarva pātakanāśanam | strītīrthasaṃbhavaṃ nṝṇāṃ māhātmyaṃ yanmayoditam
これは我が語りし由来である――清めをもたらし寿命を増し、あらゆる罪を滅する「女人のティールタ」より生じたその大いなる功徳を、男たちの利益のために宣示した。
Sūta
Tirtha: Śarmiṣṭhātīrtha (arising from ‘strī-tīrtha’)
Type: ghat
Listener: Dvija-sattamāḥ / sages
Scene: Skanda (or the narrator-sage) concludes the discourse before attentive brāhmaṇas; behind them, a symbolic river/ghat indicates the ‘women’s tīrtha’ origin; the atmosphere is calm and instructive.
Hearing and preserving tīrtha-māhātmya is itself a dharmic act that transmits purification and well-being.
The tīrtha described as a strī-tīrtha, identified in this chapter as Śarmiṣṭhātīrtha.
Implicit prescription to listen to/recite the māhātmya as a purifying practice.
