आवाहनपरित्यक्तं कार्यं पार्थिवसत्तम । तृप्तिप्रश्नस्तथा कार्यः स्वदितं च सकृत्ततः
āvāhanaparityaktaṃ kāryaṃ pārthivasattama | tṛptipraśnastathā kāryaḥ svaditaṃ ca sakṛttataḥ
王の中の最勝者よ、これは正式な招請(アーヴァーハナ)を捨てて行うべきである。また満足(トリプティ)を問い、そしてその後、供物の味見はただ一度だけ行え。
Bhartṛyajña
Listener: pārthiva-sattama (addressed king)
Scene: A pilgrim-yajamāna seated on kuśa, offering piṇḍa/anna to a brāhmaṇa at a riverside tīrtha; no elaborate āvāhana gestures; the yajamāna respectfully asks about satisfaction; then tastes a small portion once.
Ekoddiṣṭa rites emphasize simplicity and precision—omitting certain formalities while ensuring completion through the tṛpti inquiry.
The verse belongs to the Hāṭakeśvara-kṣetra Māhātmya’s Śrāddha-kalpa, without naming a distinct tīrtha in this line.
Do not perform āvāhana; perform tṛpti-praśna; and do the tasting only once (sakṛt).
