saviṣāśca kṛtā nāgā nirviṣāḥ pādakuṭṭanaiḥ | parvatāḥ parvataireva nirucchvāsā bhṛśaṃ kṛtāḥ
ナーガたちは足の踏みつけの一撃によって、毒を帯びさせられ、あるいは毒を奪われた。山々はまた山によって打ち据えられ、激しく打ちのめされて、戦いの圧迫の中で息も絶えんばかりであった。
Lomaharṣaṇa (Sūta), narrating to the sages
Scene: Serpents writhe as their venom is altered by stamping feet; colossal mountains are hurled against mountains, shown as personified peaks gasping and stunned, the earth trembling under the impact.
In the upheaval caused by adharma, even nature’s fixed powers (venom, mountains’ stability) are shaken—showing the urgency of restoring cosmic balance.
