एवमभ्यर्थितो राज्ञा गर्गो ब्राह्मणपुंगवः । तौ निनाय महापुण्यं कालिंद्यास्तटमुत्तमम्
evamabhyarthito rājñā gargo brāhmaṇapuṃgavaḥ | tau nināya mahāpuṇyaṃ kāliṃdyāstaṭamuttamam
王にこのように請われて、婆羅門の中の第一人者ガルガは、夫婦をカ―リンディー(ヤムナー)の最上にして大いなる功徳の岸辺へと導いた。
Sūta (narration)
Tirtha: Kāliṅdī-taṭa (Yamunā bank; specific tīrtha unnamed)
Type: ghat
Listener: Śaunaka and the Naimiṣāraṇya sages (implied)
Scene: Garga leads the royal couple along a path to the bright riverbank of the Yamunā; the water glints, sacred trees line the shore, and the spot feels ‘mahāpuṇya’; the couple prepares for rites.
Right spiritual practice is grounded in both right guidance (guru) and right place (a puṇya tīrtha).
An excellent, highly meritorious tīrtha on the bank of the Kāliṅdī (Yamunā) is indicated.
The verse prepares for tīrtha-based observances (such as snāna and initiation) by relocating to a sacred riverbank.
