Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Validates mānasa-pūjā (mental worship) and pragmatic substitution, making Śiva-upāsanā universally practicable; supports continuity of devotion despite constraints.
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
Offering: pushpa
It affirms that sincere inner devotion (mānasa-pūjā) is valid and effective; in Shaiva understanding, the purity of intention and remembrance of Pati (Shiva) can fulfill worship even when external means are limited.
Linga worship may be done physically with offerings or inwardly by visualization; this verse authorizes both, teaching that Saguna forms support the mind, while mental worship preserves continuity of devotion when ritual items are unavailable.
Practice mānasa-pūjā: mentally offer water, flowers, and mantra-recitation (such as the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and where possible use simple or substitute offerings according to one’s capacity.
