Dehāśucitā-vicāraḥ

Inquiry into the Impurity of the Body

bhāvaśuddhiḥ paraṃ śaucaṃ pramāṇe sarvakarmasu | anyathā''liṃgyate kāṃtā bhāvena duhitānyathā

FAQs

It teaches that bhāva-śuddhi (inner purity of intention) is the supreme śauca; without the right inner orientation, even “correct” actions become spiritually unreliable and can lead to adharma.

In Linga and Saguna Shiva worship, outer offerings (water, bilva, bhasma, mantra) gain merit only when aligned with pure devotion and right understanding; the verse prioritizes inner bhāva as the real pramāṇa of worship.

Before puja or japa, cultivate bhāva-śuddhi through brief inward recollection of Shiva as Pati (the Lord) and sincere repentance/resolve; then perform mantra-japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with steady, non-harming intention.
