The Glory of the Purāṇa-Knower and the Fruits of Study, Teaching, and Giving
यत्पुण्यं सर्वदानेषु सर्वयज्ञेषु वा मुने । शंभोः पुराणश्रवणात्तत्फलं निश्चलं भवेत्
yatpuṇyaṃ sarvadāneṣu sarvayajñeṣu vā mune | śaṃbhoḥ purāṇaśravaṇāttatphalaṃ niścalaṃ bhavet
おお賢者よ。あらゆる布施、あらゆる供犠によって得られる功徳も、シャンブ(Śambhu)のプラーナを聴聞することにより、その果報は揺るがず、尽きることなく確かなものとなる。
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Śarabheśvara
Significance: Elevates Śambhu-purāṇa-śravaṇa above (or as stabilizer of) dāna and yajña merit, implying a grace-centered path accessible beyond ritual capacity.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It teaches that devotion expressed as śravaṇa (listening) to Śiva’s Purāṇa stabilizes spiritual merit, making it enduring—beyond the changing results of charity and ritual—because it turns the mind toward Pati (Śiva) with bhakti.
Purāṇa-śravaṇa strengthens Saguna upāsanā by fixing remembrance of Śambhu’s names, forms, and deeds; this steady devotion supports Linga-worship as a focused, continuous orientation of the soul toward Shiva.
Regular Shiva Purana śravaṇa (hearing/recitation), ideally alongside simple bhakti supports like japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and mindful worship, is implied as a practice that yields firm, lasting spiritual benefit.
