It portrays adharma as not only violence against people but also desecration of spaces meant for worship and peace; such acts disturb sattva and obstruct bhakti, which in Shaiva Siddhanta is essential for Shiva’s grace (anugraha).
Flowers, leaves, water, and orderly pathways are classic supports for Saguna worship (upacharas) offered to the Shiva-linga; destroying them symbolizes hostility to worship itself and to the devotional environment that sustains ritual purity and concentration.
A practical takeaway is to protect and sanctify the worship space—keep the temple/home shrine clean, preserve offerings (flowers, bilva leaves, water), and steady the mind with japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
