संध्याचरित्रवर्णनम् (Sandhyā-caritra-varṇanam) — “Narration of Sandhyā’s Austerity and Encounter with Śiva”
तत्र प्रज्वलितो वह्निस्तस्मिन्त्यज वपुः स्वकम् । सुपवित्रा त्वमिदानीं संपूर्णोस्तु पणस्तव
tatra prajvalito vahnistasmintyaja vapuḥ svakam | supavitrā tvamidānīṃ saṃpūrṇostu paṇastava
そこでは火が燃え盛っている。その中へ自らの身を投じ、己の身体を捨てよ。いま汝は完全に清められた—汝の厳粛なる誓願が余すところなく成就せんことを。
An inner divine prompting/voice (interpreted as Śiva’s sanction within Satī’s heart in the Satīkhaṇḍa narrative)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: liberating
It frames Satī’s act as an inner purification and completion of a sacred resolve, showing that steadfast dharma aligned to Śiva culminates in spiritual clarity rather than mere emotional reaction.
In the Satīkhaṇḍa, Satī’s unwavering devotion points to Saguna Śiva as the living Lord who inwardly guides the devotee; the same devotion is later stabilized in Linga-worship as steady, form-based remembrance of Śiva.
The verse suggests inner tyāga (renunciation) and vow-discipline (paṇa): a devotee may take a niyama on Mahāśivarātri—japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with bhasma/Tripuṇḍra as a sign of purification and resolve.
