सतीकृतप्रार्थना तथा परतत्त्वजिज्ञासा — Satī’s Prayer and Inquiry into the Supreme Principle
कृत्वा देहादिकं तस्य प्रीत्यै सर्वं तदर्पणम् । निर्वाहाय च शून्यत्वं यत्तदात्मसमर्पणम्
kṛtvā dehādikaṃ tasya prītyai sarvaṃ tadarpaṇam | nirvāhāya ca śūnyatvaṃ yattadātmasamarpaṇam
この身さえも、そして一切を、御心を喜ばせる供物として—すべてを御前に捧げ—その命を保つためにも、執着を離れて「空」のごとく在ること。これこそまさに、自己そのものを御方に奉献することである。
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Articulates śaraṇāgati/ātma-nivedana: converting body, possessions, and agency into offerings dissolves pāśa (bondage of mamakāra) and invites Śiva’s liberating grace.
Role: liberating
Offering: naivedya
It defines true devotion as ātma-samarpaṇa—placing body, possessions, and agency at Shiva’s feet, while living without egoic ownership (śūnyatva) so actions become purified and liberating.
Linga-worship trains the devotee to offer all acts and resources to Saguna Shiva as sacred service (arpaṇa). The verse emphasizes that the outer offering is fulfilled only when the inner sense of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ is also surrendered.
Practice arpaṇa-bhāva in daily Shiva-pūjā: offer water, bilva, and mantra-japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya) while consciously relinquishing possessiveness; maintain life and duties simply, with inner non-attachment (śūnyatva).
