Pārvatī’s Discourse: Establishing Śiva as Parabrahman
मया परीक्षितासि त्वं बहुधा दृढमानसे । तत्क्षमस्वापराधम्मे लोकलीलानुसारिणः
mayā parīkṣitāsi tvaṃ bahudhā dṛḍhamānase | tatkṣamasvāparādhamme lokalīlānusāriṇaḥ
堅き心を持つ者よ、私はさまざまにあなたを試した。ゆえに我が過ちを赦してほしい。私は主の世間における戯れ(リーラー, līlā)に従って振る舞ったのだ。

It teaches that sincere devotion and steadfastness are refined through trials, and that even apparent hardship can be part of Shiva’s līlā meant to mature the soul (paśu) toward grace and liberation.
Shiva’s request for forgiveness reveals Saguna Shiva’s intimate, personal relationship with the devotee—Linga worship likewise emphasizes surrender, patience, and trust in the Lord’s compassionate governance behind worldly appearances.
Practice kṣamā-bhāvanā (cultivating forgiveness) and steadiness in japa—especially the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—treating obstacles as occasions to deepen bhakti rather than weaken it.
