The Line of Kuśa and the Disfigurement of Kuśanābha’s Daughters by Vāyu
स च ता दयिता दीना: कन्या: परमशोभना:।दृष्ट्वा भग्नास्तदा राजा सम्भ्रान्त इदमब्रवीत्।।।।
sa ca tā dayitā dīnāḥ kanyāḥ paramaśobhanāḥ | dṛṣṭvā bhagnās tadā rājā sambhrānta idam abravīt ||
最愛の娘たち――あれほど美しかったのに、今は苦しみ傷ついている姿を見て、王は驚き動揺し、次のように言った。
The brilliant Kushamba and the righteous Kushanabha constructed the cities ofKaushanbi and Mahodaya (as their capital) respectively.
A ruler’s dharma includes compassionate protection of dependents; the king’s immediate concern reflects guardianship as duty.
