It links tīrtha-snana (sacred bathing) and devatā-tarpaṇa (satisfying the gods with offerings) to the fruit of svarga-prāpti—enjoyment in Indra’s realm—showing how ritual purity and reverence for devas generate visible karmic results.
Though framed as tīrtha-mahātmya, the act of honoring the devas “headed by Indra” before bathing reflects devotional humility and worshipful intent; the merit arises not from bathing alone, but from reverent service (tarpaṇa) joined to sacred practice.
Ritual application aligned with Kalpa (procedural dharma): perform tarpaṇa/offerings to devas and then snāna at the tīrtha; the verse emphasizes correct sequence and intention in rite-based merit.
