जातिं देशं च सत्यं च माहात्म्यं भरतर्षभ | धर्म वृत्ति च विज्ञाय क्षत्रियाणां नराधिप

Transliteration

jātiṃ deśaṃ ca satyaṃ ca māhātmyaṃ bharatarṣabha | dharmavṛttiṃ ca vijñāya kṣatriyāṇāṃ narādhipa rājan bharataśreṣṭha ||

Translation

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「おお、バーラタ族の雄牛よ、王よ—バーラタの系譜において最もすぐれた御方よ—クシャトリヤたちの血統と国土、真実性と偉大さ、さらにダルマと慣習の行いを確かめ知ったうえで、いま『マハーバーラタ』の物語が語り始められたのち、各パルヴァンごとに婆羅門へいかなる供物を捧げるべきかを説き明かそう。」
