teṣāṃ śrutvā pratiṣṭhānaṃ nāma-karmānukīrtanāt | kṛtvāpi pātakaṃ ghoraṃ sadyo mucyeta mānavaḥ ||
The verse teaches that sincere hearing about the exalted standing of the virtuous and regularly recounting their names and deeds has a purificatory force so strong that it can remove even grave sin, emphasizing moral transformation through remembrance and praise of dharmic exemplars.
Vaiśampāyana continues a phalaśruti-style statement, describing the spiritual benefit of listening to and reciting the account—specifically, the renown, names, and deeds of the figures just discussed—assuring immediate release from severe wrongdoing for the listener/reciter.
