Kārttikeya-Abhiṣecana: Mātṛgaṇa-Nāma Saṃkīrtana and Skanda’s Commission

tataḥ prādād anucarī yamaḥ kālopamau ubhau | unmāthaś ca pramāthaś ca mahāvīryau mahādyutī |

Educational Q&A

Power and leadership are portrayed as legitimate when sanctioned by cosmic justice (Yama) and directed toward maintaining dharma; the attendants symbolize disciplined force placed in service of rightful order rather than personal whim.

Vaiśampāyana narrates that Yama bestows two formidable attendants, Unmātha and Pramātha, described as time-like in might and radiant in splendor, indicating divine reinforcement of the central figure being honored in the surrounding episode.
