मायाशतथधरं काम॑ कामवीर्य बलान्वितम्‌ | ददौ स्कन्दाय राजेन्द्र सुरारिविनिबर्हणम्‌

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

māyāśatadharaṃ kāmaṃ kāmavīrya-balānvitam |

dadau skandāya rājendra surārivinibarhaṇam ||

Translation

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「大王よ、シヴァはスカンダに、比類なき強者を授けた。幾百の幻力を宿し、望むままに力と武勇を呼び起こし、神々の敵を粉砕し得る者である。この場面は叙事詩の道徳的筋道を示す。宇宙の秩序が脅かされるとき、神威は私益のためではなく、ダルマを護り破壊の勢いを抑えるため、ふさわしい統帥に託されるのだ。」
