सवसातीज्थशिबींश्वैव बाह्लीकान् कौरवानपि । रक्षिष्यमाणान् संग्रामे द्रोणं व्यधमदच्युत:
savasātīṃś ca śibīṃś caiva bāhlīkān kauravān api | rakṣiṣyamāṇān saṅgrāme droṇaṃ vyadhamad acyutaḥ ||
サञ्जयは語った――戦のただ中で、アチュタはドローナを守るサヴァサーティ族、シビ族、バーリーカ族、さらにはクル族の戦士たちまでも斬り伏せ、師の周りの護りの輪を打ち砕いた。この出来事は、戦においては主将への忠誠と務めさえ、より優れた戦士の断固たる意志に呑み込まれ得ること、そして師への敬意と戦闘の苛烈な必然との間に倫理的緊張が生じることを示している。
