स कर्ण त्वं समुत्सृज्य राक्षसेन्द्रमलायुधम् । जहि क्षिप्रं महाबाहो पश्चात् कर्ण वधिष्यसि,“महाबाहो! अतः तुम कर्णको छोड़कर पहले राक्षसराज अलायुधको शीघ्रतापूर्वक मार डालो। पीछे कर्णका वध करना”
sa karṇa tvaṃ samutsṛjya rākṣasendram alāyudham | jahi kṣipraṃ mahābāho paścāt karṇa vadhiṣyasi ||
サンジャヤは言った。「強き腕の者よ、いまはカルナをひとまず退け、羅刹の王アーラーユダを速やかに討て。その後にカルナを討てばよい。」この助言は戦場の分別を示す。すなわち、目前の攪乱する脅威を先に除き、しかる後に主敵へ立ち返ることで、戦の務めを衝動ではなく実効をもって果たすのである。
