अनुग्रहार्थ लोकानां विष्णुलोकनमस्कृत: । वसुदेवात्‌ तु देवक्यां प्रादुर्भूतोी महायशा:

Transliteration

anugrahārthaṁ lokānāṁ viṣṇulokanamaskṛtaḥ | vasudevāt tu devakyāṁ prādurbhūto mahāyaśāḥ ||

Translation

衆生に恩寵を垂れんがため、広く崇敬され—ヴィシュヌの界においてさえ礼拝される—大いなる名声の主ヴィシュヌは、ヴァスデーヴァを縁として、デーヴァキーの胎より顕現した。物語はこの降臨を、世の安寧のため、ダルマを護り苦しみを和らげる慈悲の介入として語る。
