एवं द्वैपायनो जज्ञे सत्यवत्यां पराशरात् | न्यस्तो द्वीपे स यद् बालस्तस्माद् द्वैपायन: स्मृत:
evaṃ dvaipāyano jajñe satyavatyāṃ parāśarāt | nyasto dvīpe sa yad bālas tasmād dvaipāyanaḥ smṛtaḥ |
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。かくして、ドヴァイパーヤナ（ヴィヤーサ）は、サティヤヴァティーが聖仙パラーシャラによって身ごもり、生まれたのである。さらに、幼き頃に島に置かれたゆえ、人々は彼を「ドヴァイパーヤナ」（島に生まれし者）と呼び記した。
