स मातरमनुज्ञाप्य तपस्येव मनो दधे | स्मृतो<5हं दर्शयिष्यामि कृत्येष्विति च सोडब्रवीत्‌

Transliteration

sa mātaram anujñāpya tapasy eva mano dadhe | smṛto 'haṃ darśayiṣyāmi kṛtyeṣv iti ca so 'bravīt ||

Translation

母の許しを得ると、彼は心をただ苦行（タパス）にのみ定めた。さらに母にこう告げた。「いざという時には私を念じなさい。必ず姿を現そう。」そう言い残して母に別れを告げ、ヴィヤーサはタパスに身を投じた。
