Droṇa’s Ācārya-Dakṣiṇā: Capture of Drupada and Division of Pāñcāla (द्रोण-आचार्यदक्षिणा)
शतमेकोत्तरं तेषां कुमाराणां महौजसाम् | एक एव निगृह्नाति नातिकृच्छाद् वृकोदर:
śatam ekottaraṃ teṣāṃ kumārāṇāṃ mahaujasām | eka eva nigṛhṇāti nātikṛcchād vṛkodaraḥ ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。彼ら王子たちは百一人、いずれも大いなる剛力を備えていた。だがヴリコーダラ（ビーマ）はただ一人で、しかもさほどの労もなく、彼らすべてを屈服させたのである。この挿話は、幼き遊戯の場にまで及ぶビーマの圧倒的な肉体の力と、それが生む不均衡を示し、抑えられぬ競争心と屈辱が王家の内に長き怨讐として固まってゆくことを予兆している。
