वैशम्पायन उवाच पाण्डुरुत्थाय सहसा गन्तुकामो महर्षिभि: । स्वर्गपारं तितीर्ष: स शतशूज्रादुदड्मुख:
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: Pāṇḍur utthāya sahasā gantukāmo maharṣibhiḥ | svargapāraṃ titīrṣaḥ sa śataśṛṅgād udanmukhaḥ ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。王よ、これを聞くや、マハーラージャ・パーンドゥはたちまち立ち上がり、大聖仙らと共に旅立たんとした。彼の胸には、天界の境をも越えんとする渇望が目覚め、北を向いてシャタシュリンガ山（Śataśṛṅga）を発った。これを見て、ヒマーラヤの高嶺を北へと行く苦行の仙人たちが口を開いた。
