Incarnations of Mahādeva in Kali-yuga (Vaivasvata Manvantara) and the Nakulīśa Horizon
ये ब्राह्मणाः संस्मरन्ति नमस्यन्ति च सर्वदा / तर्पयन्त्यर्चयन्त्येतान् ब्रह्मविद्यामवाप्नुयुः
ye brāhmaṇāḥ saṃsmaranti namasyanti ca sarvadā / tarpayantyarcayantyetān brahmavidyāmavāpnuyuḥ
彼らを常に想起し、いつも礼拝して頭を垂れ、供養(タルパナ)と崇敬の礼拝をもってこの尊き者たちを満たし奉るブラーフマナは、ブラフマヴィディヤー——ブラフマンの智——を得る。
Sūta (narrating the Kurma Purana’s teaching as received from the tradition)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It implies that brahmavidyā—realization of Brahman/Ātman—is reached through sustained remembrance, reverence, and worship, showing that devotional discipline can culminate in liberating knowledge.
The verse emphasizes smaraṇa (continuous recollection), namaskāra (humbling the ego through reverence), and arcana/tarpaṇa (ritual devotion). In Kurma Purana’s synthesis, these function as preparatory disciplines that steady the mind for higher knowledge.
Though not naming Śiva or Viṣṇu directly, it reflects the Purana’s integrative approach: sincere worship and remembrance of the revered divine principle (as taught in context) leads to brahmavidyā, aligning devotional theism with non-dual realization.
