When the seventh year had also passed, that great poet—radiant in power and splendor as though blazing—came forth from the womb in the manner of those of old. O Bhārata, he became renowned by the name Dṛḍhasyu.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the Mahābhārata theme that extraordinary inner power (tejas/prabhāva) and destiny can manifest outwardly, and that one’s identity and renown are shaped by inherent qualities—here suggested by the blazing radiance and the name Dṛḍhasyu, implying firmness of resolve.

After a full seven years, a remarkable child described as a great poet is born, shining as if aflame with power. The narrator addresses the listener as 'Bhārata' and states that the newborn became famous under the name Dṛḍhasyu.
