Adharma’s Short-Lived Prosperity and the Restorative Path of Tīrtha
sa bhavān paramaṁ veda pāvanaṁ puruṣaṁ prati | tena saṁyojayethās tvaṁ tīrtha-puṇyena pāṇḍavān ||
Lomaśa said: “You, revered one, know well the highest means by which a person becomes purified. Therefore, please unite the Pāṇḍavas with the merit born of pilgrimage—so that their lives may be strengthened by sacred discipline and inner cleansing.”
Purification and moral strengthening are achieved through recognized sacred means; here, pilgrimage (tīrtha-yātrā) and the merit it generates are presented as a practical discipline to cleanse and fortify the Pāṇḍavas during hardship.
Lomaśa addresses a revered interlocutor (contextually, a senior guide/authority) and urges him to help the Pāṇḍavas gain the spiritual merit of visiting holy places, framing pilgrimage as a purposeful response to their exile.
