Indrajit’s Binding, Restoration by Viśalyā, and Counsel Restraining Rāvaṇa (Āraṇyaka Parva 273)
eṣa te vāmano nāma prādurbhāvaḥ prakīrtitaḥ | tena devāḥ prādurāsan vaiṣṇavaṃ cocyate jagat ||
“Thus I have recounted to you the manifestation known as Vāmana. From him the gods came forth; and since this whole world has issued from Viṣṇu, it is therefore called ‘Vaiṣṇava’—belonging to Viṣṇu.”
भीमसेन उवाच
The verse affirms a Vaiṣṇava theological vision: Viṣṇu’s manifestation as Vāmana is presented as a source from which the gods and the world are understood to arise, grounding reverence for the cosmos in its divine origin.
Bhīmasena concludes a brief recounting of the Vāmana manifestation, stating that he has explained it to his listener and drawing a doctrinal inference: the gods appeared from that divine source, and the world is therefore called ‘Vaiṣṇava’ because it proceeds from Viṣṇu.
