Indrajit’s Binding, Restoration by Viśalyā, and Counsel Restraining Rāvaṇa (Āraṇyaka Parva 273)

tad-anantaraṃ sa utthāne ceṣṭāṃ kartum ārabdhavān | tataḥ kuntī-kumāraḥ vṛkodaro taṃ baddhvā ratha-pari nyadhāt | sa dhūli-liptaḥ kṛcchraṃ mūrcchita iva babhūva || tataḥ taṃ ratham āsthāya bhīmaḥ pārthānugaḥ tadā | abhyetya āśrama-madhya-stham abhyagacchad yudhiṣṭhiram ||

After that, the man tried to rise. Then Bhīma—Kuntī’s son, the wolf-bellied hero—bound him and placed him upon the chariot. The wretch, smeared with dust, was slipping into unconsciousness. Mounting that chariot, Bhīma went ahead with Arjuna following behind, and on reaching the hermitage he approached King Yudhiṣṭhira, who was seated in the central part of the āśrama. The scene underscores disciplined force: Bhīma restrains rather than kills, bringing the captive before the rightful authority for a dharmic decision.

Educational Q&A

Power should be exercised with restraint and accountability: Bhīma subdues and restrains the opponent, then brings him before Yudhiṣṭhira, the rightful decision-maker, aligning action with dharma rather than impulsive vengeance.

A subdued man attempts to get up; Bhīma binds him and places him on a chariot. Bhīma proceeds toward the hermitage with Arjuna following, and they approach Yudhiṣṭhira seated at the center of the āśrama to present the captive.
