विमान विबुधै: सार्धमारुह् दिवि गच्छति । वर्षायुतानि भवने शक्रस्य दिवि मोदते
vimānaṃ vibudhaiḥ sārdham āruhya divi gacchati | varṣāyutāni bhavane śakrasya divi modate ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Ascending the celestial chariot together with the gods, he goes to heaven. For tens of thousands of years he rejoices in the heavenly realm, in Indra’s abode—signifying the fruition of righteous conduct and the honoring of dharma after the trials of mortal life.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores karmaphala: steadfast adherence to dharma culminates in divine honor and joy in heaven, portraying ethical life as bearing fruit beyond mortal suffering.
A figure (contextually the departed hero) mounts a celestial vimāna with the gods and ascends to heaven, where he delights for vast spans of time in Indra’s palace.
