apsarogaṇasaṅkīrṇaṁ vimānaṁ labhate mahat | prahṛṣṭaḥ sa tu devaiś ca divaṁ yāti samāhitaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana said: He obtains a great celestial chariot filled with hosts of apsarās. Rejoicing, and with a collected mind, he goes to heaven together with the gods. The ethical sense is that sincere, timely generosity—especially the act of satisfying brāhmaṇas with desired gifts at the proper occasion—bears merit comparable to major Vedic sacrifice and leads to exalted heavenly reward.

Educational Q&A

That timely and sincere generosity—especially satisfying worthy recipients—produces great spiritual merit, likened to the fruit of an Agniṣṭoma sacrifice, culminating in heavenly attainment.

Vaiśampāyana describes the reward of a meritorious person: a magnificent vimāna filled with apsarās appears, and the person, joyful and composed, proceeds to heaven in the company of the gods.
