Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Collapse and Vyāsa’s Counsel

Vyāsa said: “O Bhārata, the Pāṇḍavas have not wronged you in the least. It was your own sons—evil-minded—by whose deeds this earth has been brought to ruin.”

Moral responsibility must be assigned truthfully: Vyāsa absolves the Pāṇḍavas of wrongdoing toward Dhṛtarāṣṭra and places the burden of ruin on the adharma and choices of Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s own sons, highlighting how wicked intent and actions lead to collective destruction.
In the aftermath of the Kurukṣetra catastrophe, Vyāsa addresses the grieving Dhṛtarāṣṭra (called Bhārata), correcting any impulse to blame the Pāṇḍavas and stating that the devastation of the earth resulted from the conduct of Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons.
