धृतराष्ट्रस्य मूर्च्छा—व्यासोपदेशः
Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Collapse and Vyāsa’s Counsel
यत् कार्य मम युधष्माभिन्रह्मण: सदने तदा | प्रतिज्ञातं महाभागास्तच्छीघ्रं संविधीयताम्
yat kāryaṃ mama yudhiṣṭhirābhin brahmaṇaḥ sadane tadā | pratijñātaṃ mahābhāgās tac chīghraṃ saṃvidhīyatām ||
Vyāsa said: “O noble ones, let that task which was then promised to me in the dwelling of the Brāhmaṇa—at Yudhiṣṭhira’s behest—be carried out without delay.”
व्यास उवाच
The verse emphasizes dharma as fidelity to one’s pledged word: a promise made in a solemn setting (in a Brāhmaṇa’s dwelling) must be fulfilled promptly and properly, especially when requested by a righteous leader like Yudhiṣṭhira.
Vyāsa reminds the assembled noble persons that a specific task had earlier been promised to him—connected with Yudhiṣṭhira and made in a Brāhmaṇa’s house—and he now urges them to execute it immediately.
