Sañjaya said: Bewildered and robbed of clear judgment, the Pāñcāla warriors kept looking at one another; driven on and pressed hard by that great-souled hero, they could not stand their ground anywhere.

In war, fear and confusion can dissolve collective resolve; when discernment (cetas) is lost, even trained warriors fail to hold their ground. The verse highlights the ethical weight of leadership and the destructive power of overwhelming force on human judgment.
Sañjaya describes the Pāñcāla troops as mentally shaken and mutually searching each other’s faces, unable to stabilize their formation, because they are being relentlessly driven and pressured by a powerful opposing hero.
