Chapter 47: Krauñca-vyūha Deployment and Conch-Signals
Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness
अथ सैन्यस्य मध्ये तु प्राक्रोशत् पाण्डवाग्रज: । यो<स्मान् वृणोति तमहं वरये साह्कारणात्,तदनन्तर ज्येष्ठ पाण्डव युधिष्ठिरने सेनाके बीचमें खड़े होकर पुकारा--“जो कोई वीर सहायताके लिये हमारे पक्षमें आना स्वीकार करे, उसे मैं भी स्वीकार करूँगा”
atha sainyasya madhye tu prākrośat pāṇḍavāgrajaḥ | yo ’smān vṛṇoti tam ahaṃ varaye sahakāraṇāt ||
Then, standing in the midst of the army, the eldest of the Pāṇḍavas cried aloud: “Whoever chooses to side with us, him I accept and choose in return—as an ally and support.”
संजय उवाच
Even amid war, leadership is expressed through open, accountable choice: Yudhiṣṭhira publicly invites voluntary alliance, framing support as a conscious ethical commitment rather than coercion.
Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira, standing among the troops, calls out that anyone who chooses the Pāṇḍavas’ side will be accepted by him as an ally and helper.
