Rāma said: “Revered sir, after a long time a truly worthy recipient has been found. Since you have arrived as a virtuous guest, I wish to perform a śrāddha. Please grant me a moment for it.”
राम उवाच
The verse highlights dharma through honoring a virtuous guest and recognizing a worthy recipient (pātra) for sacred giving; it frames śrāddha as an ethical act requiring proper person, intention, and respectful request.
Rāma addresses a revered visitor, saying that after a long time he has found a suitable, virtuous guest, and he asks for a brief moment so he may perform a śrāddha rite in the guest’s presence.
