Garuḍa’s Breach of the Amṛta-Guard and Boons with Viṣṇu; Encounter with Indra (Ādi-parva, Adhyāya 29)

सहभार्ये विनिष्क्रान्ते तस्मिन्‌ विप्रे च पक्षिराट्‌ । वितत्य पक्षावाकाशमुत्पपात मनोजव:,भार्यासहित उस ब्राह्मणके निकल जानेपर पक्षिराज गरुड पंख फैलाकर मनके समान तीव्र वेगसे आकाशमें उड़े

sahabhārye viniṣkrānte tasmin vipre ca pakṣirāṭ | vitatya pakṣāv ākāśam utpapāta manojavaḥ ||

When that brāhmaṇa departed together with his wife, the king of birds, Garuḍa, spread out his wings and sprang up into the sky, swift as the mind—moving at once to carry forward the task at hand with unwavering resolve.
