Vaiśampāyana uvāca: evam āśvāsitān putrān bhāryām ādāya sa dvijaḥ | Mandapālas tato deśād anyaṃ deśaṃ jagāma ha ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “O Janamejaya, thus having reassured his sons, the twice-born sage Mandapāla took his wife with him and departed from that region to another land.” The verse underscores a responsible withdrawal after restoring confidence and safety within the family, suggesting that right action includes consoling dependents before moving on.

Educational Q&A

Before pursuing one’s next course of action, one should first steady and reassure those under one’s care; ethical movement forward is grounded in responsibility toward family and dependents.

After consoling and reassuring his sons, Mandapāla takes his wife Jarītā with him and leaves that region for another, marking a transition to the next phase of the story.
