Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s Enumeration of Assembled Kṣatriyas
स गत्वा विविधाज्छैलान देशान् बहुविधांस्तथा । अदृश्यन्त्याख्यया वध्वाथाश्रमेडनुसृतो5भवत्,इस तरह नाना प्रकारके पर्वतों और बहुसंख्यक देशोंमें भ्रमण करके वे पुन: जब अपने आश्रमके समीप आये, उस समय उनकी पुत्रवधू अदृश्यन्ती उनके पीछे हो ली
sa gatvā vividhāc chailān deśān bahuvidhāṁs tathā | adṛśyantyākhyayā vadhvā athāśrame 'nusṛto 'bhavat |
Having wandered through many kinds of mountains and through numerous regions, he later came back near his hermitage. At that time his daughter-in-law, named Adṛśyantī, followed close behind him—suggesting a return to the ordered life of the āśrama after restless roaming, and the quiet duty of family members to remain connected and attentive.
गन्धर्व उवाच
The verse subtly foregrounds dharma in domestic and āśrama contexts: after extensive wandering, one returns to the stabilizing order of the hermitage, and family members—here the daughter-in-law—act with attentiveness and loyalty, maintaining connection and responsibility rather than isolation.
A male figure (referred to simply as ‘he’) has traveled across many mountains and regions and then comes back near his hermitage. His daughter-in-law, named Adṛśyantī, follows behind him as they approach the āśrama.
