Post–Baka-vadha Residence and the Introduction of Yājñasenī’s Svayaṃvara

Hiḍigba said: “O man, what use is your pointless roaring and boastful talk? First accomplish all this by your deeds, and then you may boast—do not delay.”
The verse criticizes empty bravado: true worth is proven by action, not by loud threats or self-praise. It implicitly upholds a warrior-ethic of deeds over words and warns against prideful speech without capability.
Hiḍigba confronts a human adversary in the forest episode surrounding Hiḍimbā/Hiḍimba, dismissing the opponent’s roaring and boasts and demanding immediate proof through action rather than talk.
