Post–Baka-vadha Residence and the Introduction of Yājñasenī’s Svayaṃvara

vikramaṃ me yathendrasya sādya drakṣyasi śobhane | māvamamsthāḥ pṛthuśroṇi matvā mām iha mānuṣam ||

Bhima declares that his valor equals Indra’s and warns the woman before him that she will witness it at once. He rebukes her for looking down on him as merely human, asserting his true strength and demanding that she abandon contempt and recognize the power that upholds his honor in this encounter.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical demand for respect and the refusal to tolerate contempt based on appearances or assumptions. Bhima asserts that true worth is shown through action and courage, not by labels such as “mere human.”

Bhima addresses a woman (contextually a rākṣasī) who has underestimated him. He warns her not to despise him and declares that she will immediately witness his Indra-like prowess.
