Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Naimiṣāraṇya sages proceed at dawn for the avabhṛtha bath concluding a satra; this is a Vedic-yajña closure rite, not tied to a Jyotirliṅga site in this verse.
Significance: Marks ritual completion and purification; in a śaiva reading, external purification supports inner steadiness (sthiti) for receiving/retaining liberating instruction.
Type: rudram
It highlights that sacred rites culminate in purification: the avabhṛtha symbolizes cleansing of residual karmic impressions after disciplined tapas and yajña, preparing the seeker for steadier devotion to Pati (Śiva) beyond mere ritual.
Though the verse speaks of a yajña conclusion, in Shaiva understanding outer purity supports inner steadiness for Saguna Śiva-upāsanā—approaching the Liṅga with a purified body-mind so devotion and mantra-japa become more sattvic and focused.
It suggests a concluding act of purification (snāna) after worship or vrata; practically, one may take a clean bath, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma), and continue Śiva-mantra japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī) with renewed inner clarity.
