Lord Shiva (Maheshvara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Role: teaching
The verse teaches that sincere tapas (disciplined spiritual effort) draws Shiva’s prasāda (grace). In a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, the Lord’s favor is not arbitrary—purification through tapas makes the soul fit to receive Shiva’s liberating compassion.
It highlights Saguna Shiva as the responsive Lord who becomes “pleased” with the devotee’s disciplined practice. Linga-worship accompanied by tapas—vows, purity, restraint, and steady japa—becomes a direct means to invite Shiva’s manifest grace.
The implied practice is sustained tapas: regular japa of Shiva-mantra (such as the Panchakshara), observance of vrata, and inner restraint. When aligned with devotion, such discipline is said to make Shiva especially pleased.
