It defines strict standards of purity (śauca) and association for the twice-born, treating certain defiling contacts and tainted food as spiritually equivalent to a major transgression (surāpāna), thereby emphasizing vigilance in conduct.
While not directly teaching bhakti practices, it supports bhakti by insisting on disciplined, sattvic conduct and purity—seen as prerequisites for steady worship, mantra-japa, and a mind fit for devotion to Viṣṇu.
It primarily reflects Kalpa/Dharma-śāstra style ritual discipline—rules of purity and food-acceptance (āhāra-śuddhi) that govern daily conduct and eligibility for Vedic rites.
