Educational Q&A

When rulers or powerful groups act without discernment and harm the innocent, dharma is upheld by seeking protection and adjudication from a higher, impartial authority; collective appeal and alignment with righteous powers (the gods) is portrayed as a legitimate response to oppression.

The populace, suffering violence at the hands of Sagara’s sons, goes—along with all the deities—to Brahmā to seek refuge and intervention, indicating an escalation of the crisis to the highest divine level for resolution.
