Nārāyaṇa as the Sacrificial Principle, Analysis of the Three Guṇas, and the Account of Delusion-Doctrines
kalau matkṛtamārgeṇa bahurūpeṇa tāmasaiḥ | ijyate dveṣabuddhyā sa paramātmā janārdanaḥ || 70.26 ||
Varāha (default, consistent with the Varāha–Pṛthivī dialogue framework)
It reflects a common Purāṇic motif: describing Kali-yuga as a period in which worship and social-religious practices may persist outwardly while being ethically compromised by negative dispositions such as hostility.
No geographic location is named in this verse fragment; it is primarily a moral-psychological description of worship in Kali-yuga.
The verse foregrounds internal disposition as ethically decisive: worship performed with dveṣa (hostility) is presented as a degraded mode of practice, regardless of external forms.
