Account of the Maṇija Kings and a Hymn to Govinda Leading to Liberation
śeṣās tretāyuge rājan bhaviṣyanti mahābalāḥ | yo dīptatejā maṇijaḥ sa śānteti prakīrtitaḥ || 36.3 ||
Varāha
It reflects a Purāṇic mode of time-structuring through yugas (cosmic ages), presenting named figures and attributes as part of a prophetic-historical register rather than a strictly datable chronology.
No geographic location is explicitly named in this verse; it focuses on yuga-time and a figure identified by epithet/name.
The verse does not state a direct ethical injunction; its philosophical function is classificatory—linking an age (Tretā) with the emergence of powerful figures and the naming of a radiant individual as ‘Śānti’.
